T.C.U.G. III
Part three of The Croft’s Urban Garden. Bet you can’t wait. Especially now Britian’s Got Talent is over and there’s nothing to do till Big Brother…
The sun is beating down on Glasgow town, feels like the Med here. Except with pinker people and more drunks in Rangers taps (tops) bouncing around.
Four floors up tho, The [...]

T.C.U.G. II
The Croft’ Urban Garden (T.C.U.G.) took it’s first steps last night as eight herbs were planted out in a couple of growbags and a few pots.
We have mint, greek basil, thyme, chives, rosemary, marjoram, sage and italian flat leaf parsley on the go. I’m still waiting on a few large collapsible containers to be delivered [...]

The Croft’s Urban Garden
Regular readers will know I like my food.
Over the last few months I’ve been getting more and more fleeked off with not being able to get hold of the herbs I need from my local shops n supermarkets.
So why not grow my own? I have a couple of pots of basil and a pot of [...]

Candle Mediterraneo
For those of us who live far from the sea.
It looks like a tin of fish but…
Fresh from the Med, the tin comes closed with the candle and the ocean breeze sealed inside. Take the lid off or leave it half opened to shield the flame from gusty breezes.

On first inspection it appears the Scottish Government is set to impose tough new rules on planning and residency of crofting land as part of sweeping changes to help keep crofters farming.
The plans put out to consultation today, would introduce tight rules requiring crofters [...]

Hebridean Chocolates
.
Lewis, the Western isle that looks like an overturned ice-cream cone, has serious plans to reconfigure the geometry of mainland eating tastes. “Seaweed? Why not? And black pudding chocolate is a definite goer,” says business development expert Anne Sobey through the clatter and hum of Europe’s newest, remotest and probably most intrepid confectionery workshop.”We had [...]

The Dun Ringles
Keeping the flame of Avante Gaelic Obscurist Folk Rock alive in the Outer Hebrides, Dun Ringles are two sets of brothers (Jason and Jon/Robin and Wattie) fused together by an irrate record company and not allowed out to play until they have played Madison Square Garden at least twice and sold more than 2 copies [...]

Mac ‘ A Noonoo
After a wee storm in a strupach over on that virtual corner of a foreign field that will be forever England a clique of overly sensitive sassenachs got their yellow trousers in a fankle and somehow turned me into a poor scape-sheep for their own wee insecurities. It was all good fun (for me anyway) [...]
