Cold

January 7, 2010 § 2 Comments

Frozen River Clyde, Glasgow @ 10am today.

.

When I was but a balach beag I used to greet my Uncle Bert and Auntie Nan in winter with the words…

“Ah, cold a day!’

To which my Auntie Nan, being a Eoropie lass, would inevitably reply laughingly with a “Tha yes, cold a day a’graidh!”

They’re both gone now but when the weather get likes this they and these words always come to mind.

I can still see you in your little blue quilted anorak with the fur edged hood standing beside your snowman in the garden aged about 3 years ~ and your little voice saying “Ah cold a day Bert!” as Nan and Bert came into the garden to see you. In fact I have a picture as well ………..
