Lewis musicians, poets and storytellers Iain Morrison and Daibhidh Martin celebrate their new album ‘Haunted Bird’ officially released on the 7th March.
Haunted Bird is the debut collaborative album from Iain Morrison & Daibhidh Martin. Haunted Bird’s soundscape remains rich in roots, warm and glowing, with the songs sparsely crafted and open, cast around unforgettable, natural melodies. Surreal fables, myths, micro-fiction andfragments of balanced and crafted words that chart their brief moments of intense life. Their songs reflect an on-going journey; a shared upbringing on an island with everything but isolation: vast land and seascapes; the bite of the elements; the abundance of light and darkness and the array of off-beat characters they’ve met on the way.
As well as ‘normal’ gigs to promote it they’ve decided to organise a series of one-off house concerts in any part of the world that wants them to play. This intimate vibe works well with what Iain and Daibhidh do on this new record so here’s a brief rundown of how it works:
We’d like 25 or so friends, neighbours, family to come along to the flat on Clyde Street on Thursday 24th March for a 7pm start. We’ll try and find as many chairs, sofas, seats from the garden, whatever, and arrange them in concert style as best as possible. There will be no PA, this is an unplugged and acoustic session all the way!
There will be a ‘donation’ payable at the door of £10 and all the proceeds go to the performers and for their money Iain and Daibhidh will play two 45min sets with a short break in between.
House concerts are a great way of supporting local and independent artists directly. It’s a unique way of experiencing an intimate performance and helping to spread the word about the music and artists that you like.
If you like a drink feel free to bring your own bottle, we’ll lend you glasses. Or a mug.
Remember – this will be a private gig in a front room. There’s only room for a couple of dozen folk! And afterwards (9pm) you get kicked out to MacSorley’s Bar across the road to catch another damn fine pair of Lewis musicians Willie Campbell and Cristin MacKenzie!
So, if this is something that would interest you please drop us a line to say you want to come along and we’ll give you the address and buzzer number.
Meantime check out their website to find out more about them…
