Awesome

don’t miss iain shaw’s performance at the rough trade david shrigley night on october 6th. new collaborative album with exclusive iain shaw ‘covers’ cd giveaway. glasgow artistes iain shaw and david shrigley plough different fields, perhaps, but together the match is a rich, oddball gem of wilfully weird folkisms and actually quite heartfelt songsmithery. ‘awesome’ begins with a shrigley-narrated introduction and opens up into a delicate shaw-penned tragi-comic peon to failed expectations, robot slaves and dinosaur eggs. it just gets better from here on in… the two artists’ work interweaves and lends narrative reflections to each other, with shrigley’s glib narration offering a solid framework for shaw’s work. other highlights include the one minute play ‘truce’ – a shaw / shrigley interplay… the general vibe lands like a joyous take on an ivor cutler-esque playfulness
Oh my goodness! How exciting for you! We camped on Harris this summer and I LOVED visiting the weavers sheds and collecting tweed to use in my work. All the very best to you. Looking forward to following your blog.
