It’s hard to beat the taste of food prepared over an open fire.

A Muurikka skillet is a Finnish three-legged iron skillet, ideal for cooking over an open fire. The cooking surface is similar to that of a cast iron pan, which means you get a good even heat distribution. The thick bottom and its slightly concave shape ensures even heat distribution and any liquid gathers at the bottom and facilitates cooking.

Available in several sizes, I’m after the Picnic Muurikka, a handy little (260mm diameter) version which is much lighter (only 800g) than his bigger brothers and is ideal for bringing camping. The handle can be screwed off and it even comes in a sturdy carry bag.
