Harris Tweed is a 3 year old racing horse trained at Newmarket by Willie Haggas, the son-in-law of Lester Piggott.

Surname sound familiar? Yep, Willie is son of Brian who also just happens to own the beast.

Unlike Brian’s business plans, his horse appears to be a winner having taken the Edinburgh Cup last week at 4-1, leading for most of the one mile four furlong handicap and keeping on well to beat Sing Sweetly, an 8-1 chance, who was five lengths away.

Haggas Snr. was quoted as saying

“I’ve loved this horse from the moment I first saw him. I suppose it’s a bit like your own children. When you have bred them, seeing them win gives you an extra thrill.”
