The religious community of Lewis are often the butt of outsider’s jokes, media scorn and sometimes even local ridicule for their strict interpretation of the christian bible.

Like it or not, however, they are an integral part of the island’s history and culture and, personally, I’m fascinated by the subject, the revivals, gaelic psalm singing and the many, many stories of conversion.
